THE PARK · WHAT IS ACTUALLY IN IT
Five Places, One Body of Water
A ridge you climb before dawn, a beach the colour of crushed coral, two islands with dragons on them, and a channel where mantas queue to be cleaned. Every itinerary is a different order of the same five.
- Dragon islands
- Komodo & Rinca
- The viewpoint
- Padar
- Best snorkel
- Manta Point

What Each One Is For
None of them takes a whole day. All of them reward arriving early.
How the Park Works
Things visitors are surprised by on the first morning.
Worth knowing
- Everything is reached by boat — there are no roads between sites
- Entry is charged per person per day, not per trip
- Padar has no resident dragons, so no ranger escort is needed there
- The tide, not the schedule, decides whether Batu Bolong happens
Rules rangers enforce
- Stay on the Padar staircase — the slopes are eroding badly
- Keep the distance the ranger sets on dragon walks
- Never chase or touch a manta; let it set the distance
- Drones need a permit arranged in advance
